Holy crap, I haven't read this story since high school! We read it after "The Metamorphosis", and the English teacher said she actually preferred this over Metamorphosis.

I absolutely adore this story, and I believe Kafka himself said it was among his best.

The idea of starvation artist always make me laugh. 😆

Yeah, everyone says Kafka is depressing, but he's actually quite funny.

Gregor Samsa hiding in his room, ever more like a bug. Hilarious.

Hamsun too. His early books has more ridiculous and funny moments than you’ll find in modern comedy.

Not familiar with Hamsun--I'll have to check him out.

Robert W. Chambers, famously known for "The King in Yellow" is another incredibly funny author, if you read his whole collection. Even the cosmic horror tales will have funny bits.
